It’s quite challenging to keep healthy during night shifts, but here are some tips to help you stay healthy:
1. Take short naps
Short power naps for about 20-30 minutes during your breaks is helpful to boost your alertness.
2. Create a calm environment
Make your room as dark and quiet as possible to promote better sleep during the days. You may use an eye mask to help you cover your eyes.
3. Maintaining a Sleep Schedule
Have a consistent sleep schedule even on your days off to regulate your circadian rhythm.
4. Limit the exposure of light
Use blackout curtains to block your daylight when you sleep and wear sunglasses on your way home to reduce exposure to morning light.
5. Balanced Diet
Make sure to eat a balanced meals with vegetables, fruits, whole grains and lean proteins. Avoid spicy foods or heavy meals a few hours before bed time.
6. Manage Stress
Practice relaxing like meditation or deep breathing exercises to manage stress and promote better sleep.

7. Proper lighting
Use bright lighting at work to boost alertness and to simulate daylight during your shift.
