It also adjust cholesterol levels, builds proteins and makes bile, which helps you absorb fats, stores sugar for when you really need it and regulates hormone levels. So, you need to treat it right so it can stay healthy and do its job. Here are some way to keep your liver healthy.

Watch your alcohol intake. Alcohol can damage the liver cells and lead to swelling or scarring that becomes cirrhosis which can be a serious problem.

Start a healthy diet and exercise. Keeping a control over your weight helps prevent a fatty liver disease that could soon lead to a more serious disease.

Watch out on certain medicines. Some medicines can hurt your liver if you drink alcohol when you take them. And some are harmful when combined with other drugs. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about the safest way to take your medicines.

Prevent Viral Hepatitis. It’s a serious disease that harms the liver. Here are some ways to prevent catching hepatitis:

Get vaccinated: Hepatitis A and B are viral diseases of the liver. While many children have now been immunized, many adults have not. Ask your doctor if you are at risk.


Practice safe sex: Hepatitis B and C can develop into chronic conditions that may eventually destroy your liver. They are transmitted by blood and other bodily fluids.


Wash your hands: Hepatitis A is spread through contact with contaminated food or water.

Wash produce and keep away from toxins. Pesticides and other toxins can damage your liver. Read warning labels on the chemicals you use.
